Runners needed for Teams

A number of runners and sailors have registered with the race committee for listing on the website seeking placement with teams. As it is not known how many teams are needing runners or indeed how many of the registered runners and sailors have joined teams, the committee would be pleased for feedback so that if assistance is still needed to make up full teams something can be done.

Record team entries a real possibility

The prospect of the 2008 race exceeding the record fleet of 30 teams set in 1989 appears to be a real possibility for the 20th race. The second highest number of teams is 24 and this is definately under threat from the interest shown this year.

This large entry list will make for a very exciting race overall and in all three divisions, main, cruising and fully crewed.

The yachts expected will range from a 50 foot catamaran to a 30 foot monohull and vary in style from comfortable cruisers to out and out racers. Check the website for updates on teams.

New Teams Clothing Range

A completely new range of race clothing will be available for competitors in the 2008 race. The clothing range includes stylish Polo Shirts, Raglan Polos, Jackets, Spray Jackets and Rugby Tops.

Teams that have already registered or that have lodged expressions of interest for 2008 will have order forms and the types and styles of clothing sent to them to allow for early orders.

For further information and to place orders please contact Paul Scambler at paul@threepeaks.org.au.

Presentation and Reunion Dinner

Being the 20th race, a number of past competitors, volunteers and others have indicated they would like to attend. Along with an increased entry list, the race committee is keen to have an indication of the number of people likely to attend the dinner as this number will dictate the venues from which to seek quotes. In the next issue of Speaks we will request an indication of numbers although early bookings can be made by contacting Louise at louise@threepeaks.org.au.

The dinner will be held at the new Tasmanian Racing Club premises at the Elwick Racecourse just off the Brooker Highway at the turn-off to the Bowen Bridge.

Dinner tickets will be $75 per person and will include a three course meal with first drinks on the table. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Beauty Point race office prior to Good Friday and at the Hobart race control on Easter Monday and Easter Tuesday.

Dress is jacket and tie for men and day dress for women.
