Design: Chamberlin 9 catamaran
Division: 1 - Main Racing
Crew: Phillip Marshall (13), Devonport Tas; Charlie Nolan (2)
sailor, Mt Nelson Tas; Paul
McKenzie (7) sailor, Launceston Tas; Mark Guy (10) runner, Hobart
Tas; Glen Campbell (1) runner, Legana Tas.
Winner in 2005 and 2006 and runner-up in 2002 and 2004. In difficult
sailing conditions last year, this team proved to many that a
well sailed catamaran can successfully handle strong windward
conditions. The team has worked on fitness levels during the summer
and with further fine tuning the yacht will be fast and the team
hard to beat. Champion runner from previous years, Paul McKenzie,
will be a sailor this year.

Division: 3 - Fully Crewed Racing
Crew: Craig King (0) sailor,

Dominic Barton (0), Fremantle WA; Matthew Best (0), Devonport
Tas; Peter Marshall (0), Crib Point Vic; Simon Fitzgerald (0)

It has been a long time since a Navy team has entered
the race following a number of teams in the very early years of
the event. This is very much a participative effort with the aim
of having as many competitors as possible gain experience in the
race. Originally hoping for a single large yacht to take their
contingent they now have two teams, the other racing in the Cruising
Division as Team Navy Gold.
This is an official Navy team supported by Navy Headquarters Tasmania
and Tasmanian Navy Reservists.
Team 3: Plan Four
Design: 11.6 m catamaran
Division: 1 - Main Racing
Crew: Peter Newman (3) sailor, Devonport Tas; Jamie Cooper (5) sailor, Lilydale
Tas; Robert McLelland (1) sailor, Lilydale Tas; Aubrey Hendricks (2) runner,
Launceston Tas; Allan Hood (2) runner, West Hobart Tas.
This team was performing well near the front of the fleet last
year until they lost the mast near Eddystone Point. With a totally
new mast they are looking to build
on their experiences of previous races and feature well in the
results at the finish.

Team 4: Haphazard
Design: Radford 14
Division: 3 - Fully Crewed Racing
Crew: Nick Edmunds (18) sailor, Sidmouth Tas;
Ross Edmunds (10) sailor, Sidmouth Tas; Sam Edmunds (10) sailor,
Sidmouth Tas; David Wright (18) runner, Bridgenorth Tas; Andrew
Jones (2) sailor, Ulverstone Tas; Scott Ingles (3) sailor/runner,
Clarence Point Tas; John Claridge (3) runner, Launceston Tas;
Rick Ferguson (2) runner, Ulverstone Tas.
Nick has competed in every race since the start in 1989 and entered
the Fully Crewed Division for the first time last year. He has
enjoyed giving his usual weekend crew the Three Peaks experience
and feels that having competed in all races he deserves the luxury
of having a fully crewed yacht.
The largest yacht in the fleet, they should do well in heavier
sea conditions.

Team 5: Pisces
Design: Sydney 36
Division: 3 - Fully Crewed Racing
Crew: David Taylor (2), sailor, Sandy Bay Tas; Graeme McKibben
(2) sailor, Blackmans Bay Tas; Aaron McKibben (1) sailor, Blackmans
Bay Tas; Aaron Murray (2) sailor, Lindisfarne Tas; Jim Nixon (1)
sailor, Manly NSW; Greg Zyner (0) sailor; Mark Dawson (0) sailor;
Simon Sweetapple (0) runner, Glebe NSW; Tony
Fattorini (0), Annandale NSW.
Sailing in his first Three Peaks Race last year in a Farr 37
design David surprised the fleet with some quick sailing times
on the east coast. This year Pisces is a faster but lighter yacht
that could be well to the fore in the fleet. May not like heavy
windward conditions as well as some other teams but this yacht
is quick downwind.
Team 6: Jailhouse Grill
Design: Adams 13
Division: 3 - Fully Crewed Racing
Crew: Mark Koppleman (2) sailor, Cremorne Tas; Jason Van Zetten
(3) sailor, Launceston Tas; Robert
Brunning (0) sailor, Windermere Tas; Adrian West (0) sailor,
Beauty Point Tas; Anthony Johnson (0) sailor, Launceston Tas;
Josh Schouten (1) runner, Legana Tas; Michael Murrell (0) runner,
Vic.
A quick yacht especially when reaching or running they will be
contenders for line honours. The team will come back fresh after
taking a year off last year.
Team 7: Apollonius
Design: Robinson 12m
Division: 3 - Fully Crewed Racing
Crew: Julian Robinson (3) sailor, Deviot Tas; Paul
Lees (0) sailor; Paul Badcock (1) sailor, Riverside Tas; Rick Cooper
(0) sailor, Mount Martha Vic; Vincent Anderson (1) sailor, Launceston
Tas; Patrick McKenna (2) sailor West Tamar Tas; Doug Grubert (1)
runner, Kayena Tas; Matt Wilson (1) runner, Ulverstone Tas.
Owner, skipper, designer and builder Julian Robinson returns
but with a different crew this year. The yacht has been campaigned
in a number of offshore races in recent years and has acquitted
itself very well. A good turn-around on each leg would allow
this team to be well placed against potentially faster teams.
Team 8: Chance
Design: 14.3 m sloop
Division: 2 - Cruising
Crew: Robert Grant (0) sailor, Clarence Point Tas; David Orpwood
(5) sailor, Beauty Point Tas; David Shepherd (0) sailor, Beauty
Point Tas; Kevin Lloyd (0) sailor, Beaconsfield Tas; John Wilson
(1) sailor, Kayena Tas; Lorna Wilson (0) runner, Kayena Tas.
A new team this year in the Cruising Division. The yacht is a
heavy cruiser that should give the crew a comfortable ride through
to Hobart. Little is know of its performance or the performance
of the team.
Team 9: The Wagon Sports Bar
Design: 9.45 m sloop
Division: 3 - Fully Crewed Racing
Crew: Michael Denny (1) sailor, Moonah Tas; Gavin Cowell (1) sailor,
Moonah Tas; John Dawson (1) sailor, Mt Nelson Tas; Ben Davis (0)
sailor, Mornington Tas; Les Savage (13) runner, Devonport Tas;
Ben Savage (2) runner, Devonport Tas.
Competing for the first time last year and the heavy
conditions experienced were difficult for all teams especially
the smaller yachts. They are hoping for the more usual light
to moderate conditions to score a good finish. Father and son
running team will put in a solid and reliable performance on the
mountain legs.
Team 10: PRD Nationwide Tamar Valley
Design: 10.25 m sloop
Division: 2 - Cruising
Crew: Greg Hall (3) sailor, Legana Tas; Adrian Jones (1) sailor,
Beauty Point Tas; Callum Cecil (0) sailor, Beauty Point Tas; Lloyd
Febey (16) runner, Burnie Tas; Dane Febey (1) runner, Cooee Tas.
Another father and son running team that is often seen in this
race. Last year Greg's team was the only entrant in the Cruising
Division but will have competition from two others this year.
Not an especially fast yacht but with the cruising motoring allowance
should keep up reasonably well with the yachts in other divisions.
Team 11: Team Navy Gold
Design: 9.45 m catamaran
Division: 2 - Cruising
Crew: David Jones (0) sailor, Hobart Tas; Ken Walters (1) sailor,
Westernport Vic; Steven Flett (0) sailor, Brighton Vic; Andy Clowes
(0), Morningside
Qld; Simon Scott (0), Wynyard Tas.
Another team about which little is known of their performance.
The yacht is of a cruising type, not particularly fast but being
a catamaran will provide the crew with a comfortable ride. For
best performance they would like fresh winds from behind.
This is an official Navy team supported by Navy Headquarters Tasmania
and Tasmanian Navy Reservists.
Crew: David Rees (0) sailor, Hobart Tas; Jonathon Rees (0) sailor,
Hobart Tas; Lisa Shulander (0) sailor, Hobart Tas; Tim Jones (0)
sailor, Tas; Alan Rees (0) sailor, Tas; Debra Rees
(0) sailor, Hobart Tas; Jacqui Guy (8) runner, Hobart Tas; Marcel
Brown (0) runner, Tas; Catherine Vickers (0) sailor, Hobart Tas.
A first time for this yacht and team but they have the potential
to surprise the more experienced teams. This has been a very well
sailed yacht in local and offshore events and while the team looks
at this race as being a learning exercise and that they will take
it gently, the competition might make them push much harder that
they originally had planned. This team is very much a family affair
so they are certainly looking for some fun.
Team 13: Westbury/Mersey Pharmacy
Design: Farrier F9R trimaran
Division: 1 - Main Racing
Crew: Terry Travers (7) sailor, Devonport Tas; Robert Remilton
(0) sailor, Goolwa SA; Jarad Kohlar (1) runner, Vic; Michael Wheatley
(1) runner, Vic; Stephen Barton (0).
Only the second yacht to travel from South Australia to compete in the race, this latest team to enter only decided on competing at the last minute. They will provide a good challenge to the current reining champion, Phillip Marshall as Terry has been a previous winner of the race three previous times, but with a different boat and crew.
Rob Remilton has campaigned this much travelled Farrier F9R trimaran with success since its launch in 2000 in regattas from Yeppoon in Queensland to Geelong. An ideal yacht for the Three Peaks Race they will be watched with interest against the other multihull yachts.
